I love this book! I would give it 10 out of 5! Very good storyline for young children to understand. It has a subtle message of the gospel that non-Christian children will enjoy and their parents shouldn't feel threatened by either. Its very light hearted and fun to read. The pictures and colours and design are amazing too. Children learn a lot from rhythms! Can't wait for more adventures with Arlen the squid.

My three grandchildren wanted to have it read whenever we got home. They had great sympathy for Arlen and his disabilities, all discussing ways to make things better. When he was crying, and then prayed to God for help, they all thought that was a good way of solving our problems too, as God loves us and will always listen.

Delightful illustrations with great colour choice! They have movement and interesting thoughtful details. Differing depths of meaning allowing discussion with children - and adults - at different levels of understanding of themselves, their value systems and how they relate to others. Despair and its crippling attendant fear are dealt with gently and thoughtfully developing into deliverance from the 'monsters' we identify in life, not least wobbly legs. Links are made to faith and in particular the Christian faith but in a way that can be developed, or not, as the reader chooses. A very needed resource in the world in which children are currently living where to be different is isolating.
